Our Story

Like most people, we want to leave the world a better place than we found it. In the past, we donated to charity and volunteered our time, but we weren't sure if our contributions were making a difference. We had no real sense of the impact of our gifts, especially those given to bigger, more “name brand” nonprofits, which felt a drop in the bucket.

As we started doing more research, we encountered some challenges with charitable giving today:

  • There are more than 1,500,000 nonprofits in the US. How do you choose which ones to give to?
  • Some nonprofits don't have enough funding, while others have more than they know what to do with.
  • Vetting nonprofits is a lot of work, and the best charities are estimated to be about 100 times as effective as the average charity.
  • It's hard to take advantage of tax benefits, as it's easy to lose track of the receipts from your donations over the course of the year.

Our Belief

We believe it's time to start donating to charity like we invest — with long term focus and a well thought-out strategy.

Causeway is your personal advisor for effective charitable giving.

We work with leading philanthropy experts to curate “funds” of nonprofits, focused on causes like Climate Change, Racial Equity, and Global Health. The nonprofits in these funds are highly impactful, meaning they are cost-effective, transparent, and have made demonstrable progress over time.

Causeway builds a personal portfolio of funds that align with your giving goals, and we distribute your donation accordingly. Each month, we'll send you an up-to-date overview of your impact, so you can see where your money is making a difference.
